Cooperatives in Indonesia are regulated in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 25 of 1992 concerning Principles of Cooperatives (Law No. 25/1992). In Indonesia, cooperative organizations have the characteristics of an association of people, cooperation and mutual cooperation based on equality of status, rights and obligations. Cooperatives in Indonesia are formed based on the awareness of its members. In addition, cooperatives in Indonesia aim to achieve the common interests of its members. Cooperatives in Indonesia are not a pool of capital. The highest right in decision-making is based on the results of the meeting of all members. Cooperatives in Indonesia are carried out without the involvement of parties other than members and are organized without coercion, threats, and intimidation from outside parties. Income distribution in cooperatives in Indonesia is based on the amount of contribution from each member in the form of work and services.
