National Statistics Day 2024

National Statistics Day 2024

September 26, 2024 | Other Activities

The history of statistics in Indonesia began in the colonial era when the Dutch introduced data recording methods through the first population census in 1930. After independence, Indonesia continued to develop its statistical system by establishing the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) in 1960. Over time, BPS became a key institution in providing accurate data to support national development.

Towards the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045, quality statistics have a central role. Valid and reliable data is the foundation for effective policy formulation. Indonesia needs statistics that accurately reflect social, economic and environmental realities. With increasingly complex global challenges, such as climate change, digital revolution, and social inequality, quality statistics enable the government and society to make data-driven decisions to achieve inclusive and sustainable development.

Investments in data infrastructure, technology, as well as capacity building of human resources in statistics are prioritized. Only with quality statistics, we can realize a Golden Indonesia that is just, prosperous, and competitive in the global arena.
