Abstract

In July 2019, the prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten generally experience increase. This can be seen from the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 145.97 in June to 146.47 in July or a change in the index (inflation) of 0.34 percent.

All existing expenditure groups experienced an increase in index, which were: education, recreation and sports group increased by 1.33 percent, clothing group increased by 0.49 percent, foodstuffs group experienced an increase in index of 0.41 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose by 0.24 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group rose by 0.23 percent, the health group rose by 0.14 percent and the transportation, communication and financial services group up by 0.05 percent.

Commodities which predominantly contributed to inflation in July were red chillies, motorbikes, elementary schools, rice dishes with side dishes, high school, house rent and gold jewelery.

The inflation rate for the calendar year was 2.28 percent, while "Year on Year" inflation (July 2019 CPI against July 2018) was recorded at 3.53 percent.
