Abstract

In December 2019, prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten in general have increased. This can be seen from the change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 147.62 in November to 147.94 in December or there was a change in index (inflation) of 0.21 percent.
Five of the seven expenditure groups that have experienced an increase in the index, namely in a row: the material group food index increased by 0.65 percent, the transportation, communication and financial services group increased by 0.23 percent, the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group increased by 0.15 percent, the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel prices rose by 0.11 percent and the clothing group increased by 0.04 percent. While the health group experienced an index decline of -0.01 percent and the education, recreation and sports group decreased by -0.31 percent.
The dominant commodities contributing to inflation in December were shallots, broiler eggs, melons, inter-city transportation, cooking oil and air transportation.
Year-on-year inflation and calendar year inflation (CPI December 2019 to December 2018) were recorded 3.30 percent.
