Percentage population poor Banten March 2020 rises Becomes 5.92 percent

Abstract

Banten Province poverty rate from the National Social Economic Survey (Susenas) in March 2020 was 5.92 percent, an increase of 0.98 points compared to the previous period (September 2019) which was 4.94 percent. This is in line with the increasing number of poor population of 134.6 thousand people from 641.42 thousand people in September 2019 to 775.99 thousand people in March 2020.

The percentage of poor people in urban areas which in September 2019 amounted to 4.00 percent rose to 5.03 percent in March 2020. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2019 amounted to 7.31 percent rose to 8.18 percent in March 2020.

During the period September 2019-March 2020, the number of poor people in urban areas rose by 101.6 thousand people (from 371.28 thousand people in September 2019 to 472.84 thousand people in March 2020), likewise in rural areas it rose by 33 , 0 thousand people (from 270.13 thousand people in September 2019 to 303.14 thousand people in March 2020).

The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). In March 2020, the contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line was recorded at 71.78 percent, slightly lower than the September 2019 condition at 71.61 percent.

The types of food commodities that have a big influence on the value of the Poverty Line in March 2020 in urban and rural areas are rice, filter clove cigarettes, eggs, broiler chicken, instant noodles, and bread. While non-food commodities are the biggest contributor to the Poverty Line in urban and rural areas, namely the costs of housing, gasoline, electricity, education and toiletries
