Abstract

In October 2019, the prices of goods / services for basic needs of the people in Banten in general have increased. This can be seen from a change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 146.91 in September to 147.10 in October or a change in index (inflation) of 0.13 percent.

Four of the seven expenditure groups that experienced an increase in the index, namely in a row: the processed food, beverages, cigarettes and tobacco group rose by 0.51 percent, the housing group, water, electricity, gas and fuel rose by 0.36 percent, the clothing group increased by 0.33 percent, the transportation, communication and financial services group increased by 0.09 percent. While the education, recreation and sports group experienced a decrease of -0.01 percent, the health group decreased by -0.02 percent and the foodstuffs group experienced an index decrease of -0.38 percent.

The dominant commodities contributing to inflation in October were purebred chicken, ice, house contracts, house rentals, cooking oil, and soto.

The calendar year inflation rate was 2.72 percent, while the Year on Year inflation (CPI October 2019 to October 2018) was 3.77 percent.
